About Nolan
Nolan Harvel is a guitarist, composer, and producer currently based in Los Angeles. He has had extensive training and education at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music and Pepperdine University under Christopher Parkening. Nolan has been recognized for his talents numerous times, from playing at Carnegie Hall to winning First Prize at the University of Indiana International Guitar Competition. Internationally renowned and even featured on NPR, Nolan continues his professional and artistic pursuits, working as the staff music composer and producer for the Centered on the Arts Podcast, writing music for various forms of media, performing at a range of live engagements, and continuing to build his production and composing portfolio.

Nolan Harvel has been pursuing excellence in all his artistic endeavors, whether that be as a guitarist, composer, or producer, from a young age. Prior to beginning his studies with world-renowned classical guitar virtuoso, Christopher Parkening, at Pepperdine University, Nolan competed extensively in classical guitar competitions across the United States and Europe. He has accumulated over 10 first-place wins and many final-round appearances. Prizes include First Place at the University of Indiana International Guitar Competition, Guitar Symposium & Competition at Columbus State University, Guitar Festival at The Music Academy of North Carolina, Appalachian State Classical Guitar Competition, BorGuitar Festival in Italy, and the East Carolina University Guitar Competition. At the age of 14, Nolan won Third Prize at the 2015 Parkening International Young Guitarist Competition. The following year he was featured on NPR's From the Top, hosted by Christopher O'Riley. Before becoming a student at Pepperdine University, Nolan was a Myra Jackson Blair Pre-College Senior Full Scholarship Recipient at Vanderbilt University, studying under Prof. John Johns and Dr. Richard Todd. Nolan achieved a level of distinction in the Blair School’s Certificate Program and graduated in 2019. In addition to his time at the Blair School, Nolan studied extensively with renowned performer and pedagogue, Dr. Andrew Zohn, at Columbus State University. When he is not performing, Nolan enjoys composing music for various forms of media. In 2021, Nolan was hired as the staff music composer/producer for the Los Angeles-based podcast, “Centered On The Arts.” Since joining the show, he has composed and produced over 100 original pieces of music in a variety of genres. Since 2020, Nolan has written four original scores for Nashville and Los Angeles-based short films. Having graduated in 2023 from Pepperdine University’s Seaver College with a Classical Guitar Performance degree, Nolan is also currently pursuing a Master of Science in Business degree from Pepperdine's Graziadio Business School, graduation anticipated in May 2024, while continuing to build his composing and production portfolio.
